Villa Mami, renovated in the months leading up to July 2024, is a villa on two levels with a cottage, historically the property of the nearby Belcaro Castle, located only 3 km from the centre of Siena. Perched on the top of a hill, the villa offers amazing views over the olive groves of the estate, the surrounding countryside and the splendid skyline of the old town of Siena, punctuated by the Torre del Mangia and the cathedral bell tower. The villa was renovated applying the principles of bio-architecture, using products containing no artificial ingredients or petroleum products: from the insulation in the walls to the plaster on the outside of the building and the interior finishes, made of natural clay pigmented with the colours of the earth.
In the entrance is a lounge area for reading and relaxation, perfect for sitting down to take a break. The elegant living room, with its stone fireplace in traditional Tuscan style, is furnished with comfortable designer sofas and a big old wooden table for convivial dinners, long enough for up to 14 diners. The large kitchen is fully equipped, with an American-style refrigerator, a wine cooler, a coffee machine for making both espresso and American-style drip coffee, a dishwasher, a cooktop with six elements, and two ovens, so you can be sure you have everything you need to prepare any kind of dish! The kitchen also boasts an old wood-burning oven perfect for baking pizza, bread, roasts and more, available for you to use on request, in the presence of an authorised staff member. Through the kitchen, you can access an ancient wine cellar where a selection of local wines is made available to guests (extra charge). The ground floor also has a convenient bedroom with a sofa-bed that opens up into a 140 cm double bed, with an en-suite bathroom containing a shower, all accessible for people with disabilities. There is also an extra bathroom on this level, with a laundry room, responding to all your practical needs.
On the first floor are four large bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms offering plenty of comfort with refined details, each with its own unique style, and a charming loggia where you can sit and rest, enjoying the tranquillity of the villa and the view through two big arched windows.
The Gallo Nero Room is furnished with an elegant four-poster bed, and features a walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with a window, complete with shower, toilet and bidet. This room has a splendid view over the olive groves and the skyline of the old town of Siena.
The Papere Room also has a four-poster bed, a walk-in closet and an en-suite bathroom with a window, shower and bidet, perfect for a refined, comfortable holiday.
The Pappagalli Room features a double bed which can, on request, be converted into two single beds. The room includes a walk-in closet and an en-suite bathroom with a window, shower and bidet.
The Usignoli Room offers the same flexibility, with a double bed that can be converted into two single beds. It also has a walk-in closet and a windowless en-suite bathroom complete with shower and bidet.
The cottage is a charming converted brick barn with big panoramic windows. The ground floor features a sun-filled dining room with a splendid view over the surrounding countryside and the old town of Siena, ideal not only for dining but for sampling the products of the farming estate and other local specialities. Beside it is a practical kitchen corner for everyday meal preparation.
On the first floor is a large suite, furnished with a double bed and a comfortable sofa-bed, making it big enough for up to four people. The suite has its own private bathroom with a shower and bidet, as well as a large wardrobe to keep everything neat and tidy during your holiday.
You arrive at Villa Mami via an automatic gate and a short, well-lit driveway leading to a large parking area with room for up to six cars. Walk briefly downhill from here to the farmyard between the villa and the cottage, with a panoramic garden containing a large table, perfect for dining al fresco, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Two comfortable areas with sofas and armchairs offer the perfect place to sip an aperitif, or just relax and enjoy the view over Siena and the surrounding countryside. In the middle of the lawn is an old brick well, now used as a cistern for watering the garden.
A barbecue is also available for our guests’ use, ideal for outdoor grilling. A convenient pathway leads to a 15×4 m infinity pool.
The infinity pool measures 15 metres long and 4 metres wide, and is surrounded by olive trees to create an oasis of peace and relaxation, furnished with sunbeds, deck chairs and sun umbrellas for the comfort of our guests. Convenient steps make it easy to get into the water, with a maximum depth of 140 cm. The pool is open in season, approximately from April to October, though dates may vary depending on weather conditions.
Access to the property is via the local road between Terrensano and Belcaro, which flanks a part of the property, ensuring easy access among the area’s ancient oak trees. Guests find themselves in a natural setting but not isolated, only minutes away from shops and restaurants. Breakfast may be served on request, for an additional fee; a personal chef is also available to prepare lunches and dinners on request, also for an extra fee. Daily cleaning is not obligatory, but is included in our rates, and takes place between 10 AM and 1 PM.
At certain times of year, the rooms in the villa and the cottage can be booked separately.
